being a pessimist is great i’m always either right or pleasantly surprised
Some of these are so awkward, and some are great, and there’s that one with the dad that’s just 100% heartbreaking.
you are the dancing queen
when you find a very funny meme
when you show your friend the humorous meme
and he also has a giggle at it
Is that… is that even healthy?
There are sea organisms and fungi which glow in the dark and there’s fireflies and jellyfish which glow in the dark. It doesn’t do them any harm nor does it do the people around them any harm. I would say its pretty healthy, as well as it would mean more photosynthesis happening in cities which mean cleaner air.
I was just curious about how they were doing it and for some reason I didn’t think to click the link. But thanks! It makes more sense now. I was afraid it was some kind of chemical thing.
nah just genetic modification using existing bioluminescent genes. Genetics is really cool, and so is bioluminescence. I mean they’ve already made pigs glow using jellyfish genes and pigs are waaay more complicated than trees iirc. So they’re actually (i think) less likely to muck it up with trees.
In which case
(I like glowy things)
Someone in the comments did make a good point about this possibly having effects on animals and predation - illuminating hiding spots, or interfering with light-sensitive eyes, etc. That said, in cities a lot of that already happens with street lamps anyway, and only the most adaptable species remain; bringing in more trees would probably do more environmental good than not. It’s definitely worth exploring.
Boromir cuddling Hobbits because why not.
boromir’s character makes me so sad, because honestly, he was one of the most caring in the fellowship. he understood their mission and wanted to get it done as successfully as possible, but he wanted what was best for everyone with them as well. he felt the need to care for all the hobbits, not just frodo. and when he made a mistake, it destroyed him. he saw that he was weak and that he nearly ruined everything. and he died trying to make that right. boromir is the best.
trees like these are the best to sit under and read books or draw or just relax and be alone
or you can climb it and sit up in the foliage waiting for unsuspecting pedestrians to walk by so you can swing down on one of the roots with a Tarzan scream and kick them in the face before running from the traffic cops
two kinds of people.
I would hid in the branches and then wait for people to sit under it to read, then jiggle the roots so they smack people and make them think the tree is possessed.
My bird is dancing to smash mouth it was great
Last five seconds is the best.
Australian scientists have developed a pair of anti-shark wetsuits that make divers appear invisible by camouflaging their bodies in the sea and trick sharks into thinking surfers are poisonous. A team of researchers from the University of Western Australia joined forces with designers from Shark Attack Mitigation Systems (SAMS) to create the suits. The blue pattern of the Elude suit can’t be seen by the shark because the fish are colour blind. While the stripes on the Diverter suit mimic the colours of poisonous fish to warn the sharks off.
YOU SEE THIS IS FANTASTIC. THIS IS WHAT WE NEED TO DO. NOT KILL SHARKS BECAUSE THEY’RE CURIOUS AND ATTACK US. WE’RE IN THEIR WATERS. WE’RE MAKING THEIR HUNTING GROUNDS SMALLER.
Between us and the sharks, only ones that *have* to be in the ocean are the sharks. That means you are a guest at their house. They don’t have the capacity to understand that you’re just there to party peacefully. Put on these suits. For the love of the planet, they deserve better than to villainized for not understanding you are prey. Help them out and treat them well.
